THE ANTENNA IS THE HAMS CONNECTION TO THE OUTSIDE WORLD!

The 1/2 wave dipole antenna represents a simple antenna to build and get working. It will give you hours of operating fun at a low investment cost.
There is no reason why the Ham can not build his own.

To calculate your Dipole needs follow the Link below.

KF4VDF'S ANTENNA PAGE CONTAINS A DIPOLE LENGHT CALCULATOR. (CLICK HERE)

Current Antennas in use at KC1DI are:

Antenna #1

OFF CENTER FED DIPOLE SOMTIMES CALLED A WINDOM 130FT LONG FED AT 44 FT FROM ONE END. WITH 4:1 BALUN AND 75 OHM COAX. IT'S CURRENTLY UP 50FT ON ONE END SLOPES TO THE EAST WHERE IT'S UP 28 FEET AT THE OTHER END. RESULTS ARE QUITE GOOD AND HAVE WORKED A FAIR AMOUNT OF DX ON THIS ONE. CAN USE IT DIRECTLY WITHOUT TUNER ON 80,40, 30, 20, 12 & 10 METERS.
Ant. #2
1/2 Wave Dipole Sloper cut for 30 Meters good to the South and West.

All my Antennas are Home made and I enjoy experimenting with different kinds.

KC1DI'S ANTENNA PHILOSOPHY:

KEEP IT SIMPLE STUPID. (KISS)
IF IT IS NOT BROKE DONT FIX IT.
AND THE MORE WIRE THE BETTER.

SERIOUSLY I've found over the years that several different kinds of antennas work best, I use basically only wire antennas because I enjoy the challenge of working with simple equipment & Antennas.
Also a good antenna tuner is a big help.

I cant' bring myself to invest Kilo buck in rotors towers and beams. when a 500' roll of wire is only about 24 buck at the Home Supply center.. AT my Power Levels RG6 is cheap and easy to use as the feed line.. and Balanced feeder when possible provide more versatility. By using different Antennas which are tuned with seperate antenna tuners I can have 3 or four differnt antennas to switch between and choose the one that at the moment seems best for the particular path over which I'm trying to communicate.
This has been a very good method for me. And has added to my enjoyment of the hobby.

But as alway at KC1DI the antenna farm is subject to change momentarily and I'll try to keep this page updated on and new developements here
